Swampscott Estate Sale

PART 1

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 15, 16, and 17, 9am and 5pm.

This sale is being held by appointment only.

We will be holding multiple estate sales in the magnificent home of Norma and Chester Szaro.

The home is a stunning 20 room Tudor, boasting panoramic views of the Atlantic ocean with a large lawn sweeping gracefully toward a cliff overlooking the rocky shores and crashing waves, it alone is worth the trip.

Chester was a World War II veteran, reaching the rank of Sergeant. After the war he worked in the china and gift business as a manufacturer’s representative doing so for over 50 years. He serviced all of the major department stores including Jordan Marsh and Filene’s, and worked with some of the most successful giftware companies in the industry. He was named “Salesman of the Year” a number of times.

Both Chester and Norma were avid collectors, they enjoyed hunting for antiques and collectables with a keen and knowing eye. They frequently attended our estate sales and Kaminski Auctions.

This house is loaded!

The first sale will take place on the main floor, and each consecutive sale will feature another packed floor. We may, if necessary, hold a fourth and final, residual sale.

The first sale will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 15, 16, and 17 between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

We will be following the Covid-19 guidelines, there will be restrictions as to how many people will be allowed in the house at one time. Face masks are REQUIRED for anyone attending. Hand sanitizer will be available at the door and is required for use prior to entering, if waiting outside please practice social distancing and stand 6 feet apart.

This estate sale is in the prestigious Back Bay of Boston, taking place in one of the last remaining single family homes on Marlborough Street. The owner, Barbara Papesch, loved ballroom dancing, singing, searching for antiques and collectibles, she harbored a lifelong passion for opera, ballet and the theater, enjoyed outdoor sports and activities including skiing, skating, camping and boating. She loved books of all kinds, evidenced especially by her extensive cookbook and gardening collections.  She collected items from both sides of her parental family, antiques, photographs, postcards and letters, dating back to the 19th century.

Eisenhower at the Supreme Headquartersof Allied Forces in Europe.  There are several paintings of him, lots of photographs, letters to him including invitations to the White House, West Point photos and yearbooks. It is a very interesting lot.

This grand old house was home to a loving family and, it is filled with interesting things from Victorian furniture to Asian items, wonderful vintage hats and ladies clothes, toys and kitchen pieces new in the boxes. It will be hard not to find something you’ll like.

We will be following the Covit-19 guidelines, there will be restrictions as to how many people will be allowed in the house at one time. Face masks are REQUIRED for anyone attending. Hand sanitizer will be available at the door and is required for use prior to entering, if waiting outside please practice social distancing and stand 6 feet apart.

We are selling the furnishings from a lovely federal home. The owner’s mother had been in the antique business over 50 years ago, instilling a love of antiques, collectibles and finer things in her children that continues to this day. 

There are asian items, antique Imari and canton, cloisonne, Hakata dolls, signed Moreau metal statue, large outdoor cast iron figural statue, antique document boxes, large German porcelain doll, sandwich glass tie backs, paintings, antique French engravings, etchings and prints, clocks, books, pushup brass candlestick holders, decanters, many decorative items, primitives, toys and much more.
