We will be holding multiple estate sales in the magnificent home of Norma and Chester Szaro.

The home is a stunning 20 room Tudor, boasting panoramic views of the Atlantic ocean with a large lawn sweeping gracefully toward a cliff overlooking the rocky shores and crashing waves, it alone is worth the trip.

Chester was a World War II veteran, reaching the rank of Sergeant. After the war he worked in the china and gift business as a manufacturer’s representative doing so for over 50 years. He serviced all of the major department stores including Jordan Marsh and Filene’s, and worked with some of the most successful giftware companies in the industry. He was named “Salesman of the Year” a number of times.

Both Chester and Norma were avid collectors, they enjoyed hunting for antiques and collectables with a keen and knowing eye. They frequently attended our estate sales and Kaminski Auctions.

We will be holding multiple estate sales in the magnificent home of Norma and Chester Szaro.

Chester was a World War II veteran, reaching the rank of Sergeant. After the war he worked in the china and gift business as a manufacturer’s representative doing so for over 50 years. He serviced all of the major department stores including Jordan Marsh and Filene’s, and worked with some of the most successful giftware companies in the industry. He was named “Salesman of the Year” a number of times.

Both Chester and Norma were avid collectors, they enjoyed hunting for antiques and collectables with a keen and knowing eye. They frequently attended our estate sales and Kaminski Auctions.

The first sale will take place on the main floor, and each consecutive sale will feature another packed floor. We may, if necessary, hold a fourth and final, residual sale.

The first sale will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 15, 16, and 17 between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

We will be following the Covid-19 guidelines, there will be restrictions as to how many people will be allowed in the house at one time. Face masks are REQUIRED for anyone attending. This estate sale is in the prestigious Back Bay of Boston, taking place in one of the last remaining single family homes on Marlborough Street. The owner, Barbara Papesch, loved ballroom dancing, singing, searching for antiques and collectibles, she harbored a lifelong passion for opera, ballet and the theater, enjoyed outdoor sports and activities including skiing, skating, camping and boating. She loved books of all kinds, evidenced especially by her extensive cookbook and gardening collections.  She collected items from both sides of her parental family, antiques, photographs, postcards and letters, dating back to the 19th century.

This sale is being held by appointment only and is coordinated by Paula S. Epler of PSE Estate Sales, LLC.  

We will be booking appointments between 9 am and 4:00 pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, NOVEMBER 20, 21 and 22.

We will be following the Covid-19 guidelines, there will be restrictions as to how many people will be allowed in the house at one time. Face masks are REQUIRED for anyone attending. Hand sanitizer will be available at the door and is required for use prior to entering, if waiting outside please practice social distancing and stand 6 feet apart.

This estate sale is in the prestigious Back Bay of Boston, taking place in one of the last remaining single family homes on Marlborough Street. The owner, Barbara Papesch, loved ballroom dancing, singing, searching for antiques and collectibles, she harbored a life long passion for opera, ballet and the theater, enjoyed outdoor sports and activities including skiing, skating, camping and boating. She loved books of all kinds, evidenced especially by her extensive cookbook and gardening collections.  She collected items from both sides of her parental family, antiques, photographs, postcards and letters, dating back to the 19th century.

To include: antiques and collectibles, paintings and prints, fine china with sets by Rosenthal, Limoges Chambord, two sets of crystal candelabras, bone china, stemware, Asian items, many pieces of Wedgwood jasperware, moderne colored glass, ceramics and pottery, silverplate, 1951 baseball exhibition cards, woodenware, Harmony Kingdom pieces, historical plates, lots of brass items, Rookwood vase, Delft, many books on gardening, art, cooking, etc., opera, classical, jazz and show tune records, ephemera, radios,  seashells, photography from the 19th century through to the 1960s, postcard collection, baskets, lots of kitchenware, stereo equipment including a Scott 3578 receiver.

Lots of clothing from the 1960s to the 1990s with a nice selection of evening dresses, Galanos, Givenchy and Adolfo fur coats and other furs including fur hats, collars, purses, gloves, English riding boots, scarves, large collection of costume jewelry, table linen, some sterling jewelry.

Furniture to include midcentury teak furniture including two coffee tables, (made in Sweden), desk, tea cart, gateleg table, bed, Drexel Counterpoint dining room furniture, Maison Jansen style etageries, rattan furniture, mahogany sheet music cabinet, mahogany inlaid game table, two mahogany bachelor chests, English decorative credenza, sofas, bentwood chairs and rocker, antique ornate gold mirror, book cases, great vintage Fisher television set, upright piano, rugs, fireplace equipment, end tables, and more!

Camping gear, Brinkman Smoke ‘N Grill, office supplies, computers, sewing machines, Brother printer/scanner with ink cartridges, 8 millimeter film lot, vintage travel slides, Johnson outboard motor, Game Fisher twin motor, Sevylor inflatable boats, two Dahon folding bikes, (in new condition), etc.

Barbara had a uncle named Paul Tombaugh, he graduated from United States Military Academy at West Point in 1920 and he was an Adjutant General who served during World War II under General Dwight D. Eisenhower at the Supreme Headquartersof Allied Forces in Europe.  There are several paintings of him, lots of photographs, letters to him including invitations to the White House, West Point photos and yearbooks. It is a very interesting lot.

This grand old house was home to a loving family and, it is filled with interesting things from Victorian furniture to Asian items, wonderful vintage hats and ladies clothes, toys and kitchen pieces new in the boxes. It will be hard not to find something you’ll like.

Asian items to include Imari umbrella holder, large lot of export porcelain rooster china, Chinese export mandarin koi fish cups and saucers, Chinese export dragon china, cabbage and butterfly china, rose medallion china, antique satsuma lamp, Chinese and Japanese pottery, Chinese woodblocks and other Asian art, ginger jars, Chinese brass, celadon planter and large bowl, satsuma vases and other pieces.

Fine china including Minton, Wedgwood, Nymphenburg, Limoges and other patterns, set of Lunt sterling silver flatware, antiques and collectibles, crystal stemware, Delft chargers, paintings and prints, lamps, lots of colored glass, Italian ceramics, Bohlmarks Swedish lamp, silver-plated flatware, silver-plated serving pieces, antique mantle clock, large Italian ceramic tiger, 1970s and 1980s toys, books, and much, much more!

The lady of the house was a former model and there is a huge collection of ladies clothes with most styles from the 1950s to the 1980s, vintage hats, hat boxes, gloves, hundreds of silk scarves, (most still with tags), large assortment of vintage purses including deco mesh purses, wonderful Fendi fur coat, other fur jackets and coats, vintage belts, shoes, etc.

Furniture to include Victorian eastlake bed, settee, marble top bureau and commode, golden oak hutch, red painted Asian style sideboard, Victorian chairs, wicker patio furniture, Chippendale style sofa, vintage oak kitchen table with barley twisted legs and six chairs, oak rocker, oak dresser, cedar chests, spectacular Florentine eagle mirror, Baldwin spinet piano, Florentine nested tables, bedroom furniture, antique child’s sled, large pottery jardiniere and pedestal, butterfly design dresser screen, trunks, lots of antique chairs.
