Remembering Frank MacGrory 

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing last month of our dear friend and coworker, Frank MacGrory.

Frank worked with us for more than 35 years and was considered by many to be the best doorman in the estate-sale business. When opening the door at the start of a sale, he would address the waiting crowd with his unmistakable call: “Listen up, you lot!”

It became such a beloved tradition that eventually, when Frank appeared at the door, the gathered crowd would shout, “Listen up, you lot!” before he had the chance.

On one occasion, just before a sale, Paula asked Frank to watch over some expensive jewelry and sent another staff member to the door to make the opening announcement. Remember, some of these customers had been waiting for hours. The staff member soon returned, looking a little sheepish, and said, “They want Frank.” Frank immediately jumped up, went to the door, and gave the crowd the talk they had been waiting for.

Frank was truly one of a kind. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
