This estate sale is in the prestigious Back Bay of Boston, taking place in one of the last remaining single family homes on Marlborough Street. The owner, Barbara Papesch, loved ballroom dancing, singing, searching for antiques and collectibles, she harbored a lifelong passion for opera, ballet and the theater, enjoyed outdoor sports and activities including skiing, skating, camping and boating. She loved books of all kinds, evidenced especially by her extensive cookbook and gardening collections.  She collected items from both sides of her parental family, antiques, photographs, postcards and letters, dating back to the 19th century.

To include: antiques and collectibles, china, stemware, Asian items, many pieces of Wedgwood jasperware, moderne colored glass, ceramics and pottery, silverplate,  woodenware, historical plates, lots of brass items, Delft, many books on gardening, art, cooking, etc., opera, classical, jazz and show tune records, ephemera, radios,  seashells, baskets, lots of kitchenware, stereo equipment, and more!

Barbara had a uncle named Paul Tombaugh, he graduated from United States Military Academy at West Point in 1920 and he was an Adjutant General who served during World War II under General Dwight D. Eisenhower at the Supreme Headquartersof Allied Forces in Europe.  There are several paintings of him, lots of photographs, letters to him including invitations to the White House, West Point photos and yearbooks. It is a very interesting lot.

This grand old house was home to a loving family and, it is filled with interesting things from Victorian furniture to Asian items, wonderful vintage hats and ladies clothes, toys and kitchen pieces new in the boxes. It will be hard not to find something you’ll like.
