We are honored to present the estate sale of Anthony Cromwell Hill, a remarkable journalist, writer, documentarian, filmmaker, and Harvard University graduate. Tony created and directed numerous impactful features, showcasing notable figures like Henry Kissinger, Elie Wiesel, Leonard Nimoy, and Angela Lansbury, to name but a few. 

Tony came from an extraordinary family. His father, Henry Aaron Hill, made history as MIT’s first African-American PhD in chemistry. His mother, Adelaide M. Cromwell, graduated from Smith College and earned advanced degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, Bryn Mawr, and Radcliffe. She also co-founded Boston University’s African Studies department.

Tony’s great-aunt, Otelia Cromwell, shattered barriers as the first African-American woman to graduate from Smith College and earn a PhD from Yale University. His uncle and godfather, Edward W. Brooke 3rd, became the first African-American elected to the U.S. Senate since Reconstruction.

To include hundreds of books, many from his mother’s library. Subjects include civil rights movements, black history, art, and novels. Records, cds, dvds, artwork, some African carved pieces, bric-a-brac, etc.

The estate sale is being held in a private complex where guest parking is limited,for that reason, appointments are necessary.  

This lovely townhouse has collectibles, antiques, jewelry, art, traditional furniture, crystal, china, depression glass, oriental rugs, clocks, household and holiday items, golf clubs, clothes, books, and much more!

Highlights are two D.O. Hoyt Nantucket baskets, Gorham Fairfax sterling flatware, a Singer Featherweight machine, model 221, Leslie Berenson art, and a Thomasville secretary.

Appointment times on Friday and Saturday are at 9 am, 10:30 am, 12 noon, 1:30 pm and, 3:00 pm; Sunday appointment times will be 10 am, 11:30 am, and 1 pm.  

Guests will be given an hour to shop.

He was especially proud of his 18-year United States Air Force Reserve service. Additionally, he was a skilled musician, performing with various orchestras and bands in the Metro-Boston area. Both he and his wife were avid collectors.
